The Revolving Door Is the Only Honest Door
A hinged door is a binary. Open or closed. In or out. It knows nothing of the space between, where most of life actually happens.
The revolving door refuses the binary entirely. It is never open and never closed. It admits you and releases you in the same motion, keeps the weather where the weather belongs, and asks only this: push gently, keep your pace, trust the rotation.
People hesitate before it. I have watched them. They stand at the entrance studying the compartments like children at the edge of a skipping rope, waiting for a perfect moment that the door, in its wisdom, does not provide. There is no perfect moment. There is only the next opening, and then the next.
And here is what no one says: I have never seen a person emerge from a revolving door unhappy. Something about the turning returns a small ceremony to the act of entering a building, a ceremony the hinged door threw away centuries ago.
Use the revolving door today. Take your time. It is not going anywhere.
That is precisely its genius.
